LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL DAY WENT DOWN A STORM
Gallions Housing Association’s joint environmental day with Trust Thamesmead and Tilfen Land went down a storm in Thamesmead Town Centre on Monday [26th July]. In just under three hours approximately 150 members of the public visited our information point obtaining tips on how to save energy and be green as well as details of local environmental events, including future canal clean-ups, that they could take part in.
Gallions’ mascot, Max the lion, was on hand to provide a little light entertainment for the kids whilst mum and dad took a look at what was on offer and chatted with staff.
Visitors were also encouraged to ‘take a pledge’ by visiting Gallions’ brand new website – www.welovegreen.co.uk – aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and providing a forum for sharing ideas.
Gallions’ Communications Manager, Emma Turner, said:
“It was great talking to so many residents. They showed such a keen interest in the local environment, it was really encouraging. The launch of our new green website and events like this is a step in the right direction; we’re giving them the tools that will enable them to do more”.

“We want residents to take ownership and responsibility for their part of Thamesmead. The day was an ideal opportunity for us to promote that as well as our joint canal clean-ups throughout August with the Gallions funded Thames21 River Keeper”.
